US President Donald Trump dismissed the possibility of withdrawing from the USMCA on Saturday and stated that a trade agreement with Canada could be reached soon.
Talks in Dublin
Trump made the remarks during a meeting in Dublin with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin. The comments address cross-border trade arrangements between the United States and its northern neighbour following tensions over regional tariff policies.
“We are doing very well,” Trump said regarding the negotiations. “We will have a great relationship with Mexico. In fact, we have a good relationship with Canada.”
North American trade ties
Trump spoke in Dublin.
The statements preserve the tripartite framework binding the United States, Mexico, and Canada under the existing pact, while US diesel traded around $6 during the same period.
The USMCA remains the governing framework.
