Microsoft reported earnings per share of $4.89 for the first quarter of its fiscal 2027, 1.5% above the $4.82 forecast. Revenue came in at $92.3 billion, just below the $92.5 billion forecast. The company published the figures on 28 October 2026 in a release filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Profit above forecast

Earnings per share exceeded the forecast by $0.07. The gap is small in absolute terms, but it is the figure the company itself reported against expectations, and it was positive. Per-share earnings are the measure most closely watched by investors because they show profit spread across each outstanding share.

Revenue slightly below

Revenue was $214.4 million below the forecast, a shortfall of 0.2%. Total revenue for the quarter was $92.3 billion, and the gap to expectations was narrow enough that it was the smaller of the two comparisons. The company’s fiscal year does not match the calendar year, so the quarter covers a different period from the one ending in December.

In markets the same day, the Nasdaq Composite stood at 26,477.81 points at the close of 27 October 2026, up 1.18% from the previous close.
