Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti said the central bank remains in the market to monitor rupiah movements amid volatility. The rupiah depreciated 0.36 percent to Rp18,105 per US dollar at 10.04 WIB on Monday, 26 October 2026, against Friday’s close of Rp18,040. Damayanti made the remarks at the Danantara TIIF 2026 event.
Central bank says volatility is ordinary
Damayanti said the rupiah’s movements are driven by supply and demand. “We remain in the market. It depends on supply and demand. We keep monitoring its movements.” She said the currency’s swings were ordinary volatility, but that the central bank would keep watching them. She added that the bank also looks at the root cause of the moves.
She said no change in intervention strategy has been communicated. She did not detail the main factors behind the day’s rupiah movement. Rupiah data are sourced to Refinitiv.
Governor declines to elaborate further
Asked for more detail, Damayanti said she would check later. She said she had not been in the office since the morning.
