Türkiye’s exports for September rose 15.4 percent from a year earlier to $26 billion, a record for the month. Exports for January to September rose 5.2 percent to $211 billion, also a record for that period.
Trailing 12-month exports reached $283.7 billion, another record. The figures were compiled from data of the Türkiye Exporters Assembly (TİM).
Growth spread across sectors
Eighteen of the 26 sectors increased exports in January to September, while eight recorded declines. Fresh fruit and vegetables posted the fastest growth, up 42 percent to $3.2 billion.
Ship, yacht and services exports rose 35 percent to $2 billion. Mining products climbed 20 percent to $5.4 billion, and hazelnuts and hazelnut products grew 19 percent to $1.9 billion.
Defence and aerospace exports rose 16 percent to $6.9 billion. Tobacco, electrical and electronics, and iron and non-ferrous metals each gained 14 percent.
Olive oil exports fall sharply
Olive and olive oil exports fell 28 percent to $273.7 million. The association attributed the decline to low production last year, and expects a high harvest this season.
The United States imposed an additional 12.5 percent tax on Turkish olive oil in July, the association chairman Mehmet Emre Uygun said.
