Orders and stocks shift

Firms reported that current total orders, already below seasonal norms, weakened further on that measure. Current finished goods stocks, previously reported above seasonal norms, shifted toward a below-norm reading.

Expectations for production volume and domestic orders over the next three months weakened. Export order expectations, by contrast, strengthened. Expectations for sales prices also weakened over the same horizon.

Price outlook and capacity signals

Annual producer price inflation expectations for the next twelve months eased to 30.4 percent, down 0.6 points from the previous month.

Among firms surveyed, 55.6 percent reported no factor restricting production. A further 12.8 percent of workplaces cited insufficient demand as the most important factor restricting production.
