The top seven cryptocurrencies held 92.1 percent of the market capitalization among the 100 largest crypto assets when excluding stablecoins, according to data from research provider CryptoRank, marking a level of capital concentration last seen in 2021.

Dominance of largest tokens

Bitcoin alone represented 66.6 percent of the top 100 capitalization under this measure, highlighting the extent to which valuation remains concentrated in the largest asset. Bitcoin accounted for 57 percent of the entire cryptocurrency market when including stablecoins.

The calculation strips out dollar-pegged tokens, such as USDT and USDC, to assess the balance of capital strictly among tokens exposed to market price volatility across the sector. Ethereum also figures among the major non-stablecoin assets evaluated under the metric.

Capital split in the top hundred

The remaining 93 assets in the group accounted for 7.9 percent of the non-stablecoin top 100 valuation. CryptoRank tracks 39,000 cryptocurrencies in total.

That 7.9 percent share leaves the broader basket of mid-tier and smaller altcoins with a constrained footprint within the top bracket of the digital asset market, as the 92.1 percent concentration reading repeats a distribution profile not seen since 2021.
