Gap to estimate

The fix also came in above a Reuters estimate of 6.6811.

By our own market data, USD/CNH stood at 6.6795 as of 4 November 2026, 02:24 GMT. That offshore reading sits apart from the central bank’s official fix and reflects a separate measurement.

PBOC’s broader remit

The People’s Bank of China is tasked with safeguarding price and exchange rate stability among its policy objectives.

Pan Gongsheng serves as PBOC governor. Wednesday’s fix leaves the yuan’s reference point marginally weaker against the dollar than the day before.
