Gold prices fell on the last trading day of the week, as rising oil prices increased expectations that interest rates would stay high for a long time. Spot gold was quoted at $4,016.67 an ounce for buyers and $4,017.29 for sellers on 23 October 2026. By our market data, as of 06:49 GMT, gold was at $4,014.81 an ounce, its lowest in 31 days.

Rate expectations weigh on bullion

Gold pays no interest, so it tends to lose appeal when borrowing costs are expected to stay elevated. That, in turn, kept bets on early rate cuts in check.

Attention now turns to the US Federal Reserve meeting scheduled for the following week.

Domestic prices in lira

In Turkey, the gram gold price was quoted at 6,434.09 lira for buyers and 6,434.89 lira for sellers. A quarter gold was priced at 10,477 lira to buy and 10,556 lira to sell. Full gold was listed at 41,524.74 lira to buy and 42,344 lira to sell.

Republic gold was quoted at 41,752 lira to buy and 42,038 lira to sell. Half gold changed hands at 20,954 lira to buy and 21,105 lira to sell.
