Earnings and revenue against forecast

The earnings gap against forecast was $0.04 per share. On the top line, revenue was $394.5 million below the forecast, a shortfall of 1.4%. The two measures therefore pointed in opposite directions against expectations, with profit per share above the forecast and sales below it.

Tesla’s own filing carried these figures, and this report uses the company’s numbers as stated there.

Market backdrop

In markets the same day, the Nasdaq Composite stood at 26,742.96 points, up 1.20% from the previous close, at 20:49 GMT.
