Banks lead the advance

The banking sector was the strongest part of the market. The WIG-Bank index climbed 3.11 percent, driven by strong third-quarter financial results. Alior Bank posted a net profit of 473.2 million zloty, down from 563 million a year earlier, yet still beat market consensus by 12.2 percent.

Bank Millennium reported a net profit of 400.4 million zloty, up from 344.5 million a year earlier, and came in 6.3 percent above analyst expectations. Oddo BHF set a price target of 158 zloty for Alior Bank.

Global sentiment supports the session

Analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski of Noble Securities said the session fitted a global pattern of recovering sentiment after a weaker previous week. He said the first US results were very good, though the market initially fell.

Chrzanowski said Warsaw has no large AI-sector constituents, but that positive sentiment toward AI firms feeds risk appetite. He expects Warsaw to underperform foreign indices over the coming quarters.
