Oil prices fuel risk aversion

Reports of a potential resumption of US attacks on Iran after the elections heightened fears of disruptions in energy markets, according to analysts of Ve por Más. This renewed uncertainty contributed to an environment of increased risk aversion among investors.

The analysts noted that these conditions have reinforced expectations of inflationary pressures. As a result, yields on US Treasury bonds rose amid concerns that the Federal Reserve may adopt a more restrictive monetary policy.

Investors cautious amid earnings and bond yield pressure

Ve por Más analysts anticipated that risk appetite would remain moderate as investors assess the recent rebound in oil prices and pressure on long-term US Treasury yields. They also highlighted the impact of Samsung’s earnings, which disappointed consensus expectations.

Meanwhile, technology shares have been a key factor pushing the market indicators higher, although this was not enough to offset the overall declines at the open. At the close of 7 October 2026, the S&P 500 stood at 7,801.77 points, down 0.22 percent, while the Nasdaq Composite was at 27,538.69 points, also down 0.22 percent, near its 31-day high.
