EUR/USD was quoted at $1.1239 at 21:15 GMT on 16 October 2026, according to MacroHerald’s own measurement. Over the past 31 days the pair has traded between a high of 1.1486 and a low of 1.1161.
Speculative positioning
Data from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission shows speculators held a net short position in the euro of 137,573 contracts in the report dated 13 October 2026. A week earlier the same position stood at 99,332 contracts, so the net short grew by 38,241 contracts over that week. A net short means speculators, on balance, hold contracts that would profit if the euro falls against the dollar.
The CFTC series is published weekly and tracks non-commercial traders’ futures positions. The increase in the net short is a change in reported positions, not a measure of spot price movement.
