Session move

According to Bloomberg figures, the peso gained 0.37 percent against the dollar on 19 October. The move left the currency at 18.42 per dollar, down from the level recorded at Friday’s close on 16 October.

Felipe Mendoza, analyst at EBC Financial Group, said the data will be decisive for recalibrating bets on the next monetary policy decisions of Banco de México. He added that investors are operating cautiously in the face of global signals of higher-for-longer interest rates.

Data calendar ahead

The week’s releases include the Indicador Oportuno de la Actividad Economica for September. Also due is the first-half-of-October national consumer price index, per the calendar published by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía.

The market is awaiting more economic data.
