Colombia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy has lifted the programmed limit on natural gas supply that it had imposed because of a technical contingency at the Spec LNG regasification terminal in Cartagena. The measure takes effect at 23:59 on 31 October and is formalised by Resolution 40,596 of 2026.

Repairs finish early

Corrective works at the terminal finished earlier than expected, restoring its operational capacity. The ministry said that during the contingency it coordinated with sector agents and guaranteed supply for essential demand, including households, hospitals and schools.

The resolution ends the extraordinary measures adopted for the contingency. Normal supply and commercialisation conditions resume once it takes effect.

Monitoring continues

The ministry said it will keep monitoring supply conditions.
