China plans to restart refined fuel exports in October after briefly suspending them during the Altın Hafta holiday. Authorities approved total exports of about 3.7 million metric tons of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel for the month.

Exports set to ease supply

Chinese refiners exported slightly over 4 million tons of these products in September. The October export restart aims to help alleviate global supply tightness affecting diesel, gasoline and jet fuel markets.

Monthly export approvals remain tightly overseen despite eased controls from July through September.

Geopolitical tensions influence decisions

Warfare in the Middle East and the Russia-Ukraine conflict continue to disrupt fuel production and contribute to higher diesel prices. These factors shape China’s export policy.

The International Energy Agency decided this week to accelerate oil stockpile use and prioritize diesel supply as countries seek to secure fuel amid these disruptions.
