China reported an annual inflation rate of 0.8% for August 2026, according to official data released at 09 Sep 2026 01:30 GMT. The figure was higher than the 0.5% recorded in the previous period, while it matched the market forecast of 0.8% exactly.

Consumer Price Developments

The reading measured year-on-year changes. The annual consumer inflation rate tracks the percentage change in the prices of a selected basket of goods and services purchased by households compared with the same month in the prior year, providing a key benchmark for domestic purchasing power.

Elsewhere, the United States recorded an annual inflation rate of 3.4% in July 2026, its highest in 12 days, alongside an August 2026 unemployment rate of 4.1%. The euro area annual inflation rate stood at 1.9% for the December 2025 reading, which was its highest in 12 days.
