Asian stock markets mostly rose on Tuesday, following Wall Street gains led by technology stocks. South Korea’s Kospi jumped 3.8 percent. Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 1.7 percent, while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.32 percent.

Technology stocks lead the rally

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 146.42 points, or 0.3 percent, while the S&P 500 added 0.7 percent and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.8 percent. Tesla climbed more than 5 percent and Nvidia gained 2 percent. Kosdaq, the Korean technology-focused index, rose 2.9 percent.

Investors remain uneasy about AI-related companies taking on heavy debt to fund infrastructure and expansion.

IPO pipeline and earnings week

Anthropic has filed documents to list on Nasdaq. If the listing goes ahead, it would be one of the largest tech IPOs of 2026, following SpaceX’s listing in June.

Markets are also waiting on third-quarter earnings. Coca-Cola, Robinhood and Boeing report on Tuesday, while Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon report later in the week.

Fed meeting in focus

The Federal Reserve’s policy meeting began this week and is expected to end with rates held. Investors are looking for hints about a possible rate rise before year-end.

Thomas Block, Washington policy strategist at Fundstrat, said an unchanged decision still matters, particularly the voting results after differing views at the two previous meetings. He said the Fed is unlikely to change rates one week before the national election, even though it sees itself as above partisan politics.
