The Indeks Harga Saham Gabungan (IHSG) fell in the first session of trading on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, changing hands at 5,045.08 at 09:59 WIB. That marked a decline of 51.75 points, or 1.02 percent, from the previous close.

The index had opened higher, at 5,126.53, up roughly 29.7 points. It climbed further to an intraday high of 5,143.58 before reversing course and sliding toward 5,044.90. Trading volume reached 64.45 million lots, with turnover of 2,404.16 billion rupiah by mid-morning.

Oil prices tumble

Oil markets moved sharply lower on Monday, 2 November 2026. Brent crude fell 7.63 percent to settle at $104.77 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate dropped 7.36 percent to close at $96.46. The declines came on hopes that the war between the United States and Israel against Iran could end, following peace talks involving Iranian officials and Qatar.

A lower oil price is seen as a positive for Indonesia, which is a net oil importer.

US votes, China factory data

The United States held midterm elections on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, with Democrats seeking to take control of Congress amid Trump’s declining popularity and pressure from the cost of living. According to the University of Florida Election Lab, 57 million Americans had voted early by Monday, well above the 46 million who voted early in the 2022 midterms.
