Air-e, the Colombian electricity distributor under intervention, has warned that the restrictions component of its energy tariff rose to 936 Colombian pesos per kilowatt-hour.
Tariff component rises
The restrictions component climbed from 874 pesos to 936 pesos per kWh. Air-e said the change affects only this specific component of the tariff, not a generalized increase across all elements of the bill.
The increase stems from CREG Resolution 101 127 of 2026, which raises the share of thermal plants in energy dispatch. The measure applies from the operation of 7 September 2026 and is national in scope. It will remain in force until reservoir levels allow the system’s reliability to be assured, according to Air-e.
Reducing market exposure
Air-e Intervenida is expanding its use of bilateral contracts with generators as a way to reduce exposure to variations in spot market prices. Generators have described Air-e as a risky client, citing the company’s outstanding debts.
Water reserves remain the central concern behind the transitional rules.
