Turkey’s draft 2027 central government budget bill forecasts foreign trade tax revenues rising to 3,439 trillion lira in 2027. The figure is projected to climb further, reaching 4 trillion lira in 2028 and 4.5 trillion lira in 2029.
Assumptions behind the forecast
The projections rest on expected import volumes for 2027 and anticipated exchange rate movements, according to the budget bill. For customs duties specifically, the year-end estimate draws on eight months of realised 2026 data combined with expectations for the remainder of the year.
These are budget forecasts rather than realised outcomes.
Breakdown by revenue line
Within the overall trade tax total, customs duties are forecast to rise by 29.2 percent in 2027 compared with 2026. Import VAT is expected to increase by 29.4 percent over the same period.
Other foreign trade revenues are projected to grow by 23.3 percent. Together, the three components make up the path toward the 3,439 trillion lira figure for 2027, before the further increases forecast for 2028 and 2029.
