Brazil’s consumer prices rose 0.32 percent in the October 2026 IPCA-15 preview, the Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) said on Friday. The mid-month reading covers prices collected between 16 September and 14 October, compared with the prior period from 15 August to 15 September.
Food and beverages led the increase, rising 0.88 percent. Food at home was the main driver, up 1.01 percent after a 0.38 percent rise in the previous month. Food away from home rose 0.56 percent in October, up from 0.44 percent in September.
Vegetables and staples drive the gains
Tomatoes climbed 24.54 percent over the period, while onions rose 13.63 percent and potatoes 10.96 percent. Rice increased 5.80 percent. Zucchini posted the largest gain at 38.29 percent, and lime rose 17.36 percent.
Some items moved the other way. Carrots fell 10.67 percent and fruit dropped 1.37 percent. Ground coffee slipped 1.16 percent.
Food at home stays the main pressure
The food at home category accounted for most of the group’s rise, according to the IBGE data. Prices for fresh produce and staples moved sharply higher even as coffee and some fruit eased.
