Financial Services Authority (OJK) chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi said the fundamentals of the economy and of companies listed on the Indonesian capital market are very strong. She made the remarks as market volatility was triggered by an MSCI sentiment that could downgrade Indonesia’s market status from emerging market to standalone.

Corporate performance and listings

Dewi cited second-quarter 2026 corporate results, which she presented during a cabinet session at Istana Negara in Jakarta. Of 962 listed issuers, 74 percent booked a profit, and company revenue rose 15.9 percent in the quarter.

OJK says the pressure on share prices does not reflect corporate performance. The regulator has run an integrity reform since January 2026, covering transparency, liquidity, enforcement and inter-agency coordination.

Enforcement against coordinated trading

Dewi said enforcement had not been considered strong enough. OJK has imposed a sanction of Rp 1.5 trillion on parties engaged in coordinated trading.

She said that sanction may be among the largest in the history of Indonesia’s capital market. The regulator also suspects two other companies of market manipulation.
