USD/JPY stood at 156.836 yen at 23 October 2026 21:15 GMT, according to MacroHerald’s own measurement. Over the past 31 days the pair has traded between a low of 156.435 and a high of 158.815.

Speculative positioning

CFTC data shows speculators net long the Japanese yen at 69,878 contracts in the report of 20 October 2026. The same position stood at 50,207 contracts a week earlier, so it grew by 19,671 contracts over that period.

The figures are a weekly snapshot of positioning and do not by themselves indicate the direction of the currency pair.
