Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti said the central bank is preparing liquidity in the form of repo and FX swap operations, with foreign funds entering and being converted to rupiah, reaching approximately 920-930 trillion IDR. The operations aim to maintain banking system liquidity even as banks actively support government programs including the Free Nutritious Meal Program and the Red and White Village Cooperative.
Shared responsibility
Damayanti said maintaining liquidity availability is a shared responsibility between the government and Bank Indonesia, though the two work through different channels. The government has made calculations to ensure bank liquidity remains safe despite banks’ active involvement in these programs, particularly state-owned banks grouped under Himpunan Bank Milik Negara (Himbara).
Support for programs
Banks are actively involved in government programs.
The central bank statement comes as state-owned banks continue their participation in initiatives aimed at supporting public welfare while maintaining adequate liquidity buffers in the financial system.
